A California woman believed she was in a long distance romance with a well known TV actor. The video calls looked real. The voice sounded right. The affection felt convincing. It was all an AI deepfake, and by the time the curtain fell, she had lost $81,000 and even sold her paid off home. Romance scams already cost Americans over a billion dollars a year. Now they come with studio-quality special effects. It’s a hard lesson in a strange new truth: if your movie star boyfriend needs wire transfers, he probably isn’t your boyfriend.

On the Isle of Wight, a routine dog walk turned into an unscheduled tree climb. A man passed through a field, spotted a calf, and soon found himself face to face with a protective mother cow who had very strong opinions about personal space.
